We are all guilty of it from time to time, but did you know that in an effort to maintain perfect hair we actually end up doing more damage? Here are the 7 worst things that we do to our hair – daily.

Hairbands: Using the wrong hairband (like rubber or plastic) can cause breakage. Use a cotton-lined band that is gentle on hair.

Constant Brushing: Constantly brushing tugs and pulls on your hair, which loosens it from the scalp and tears strands over time.

Brush While Wet: Detangle your wet hair with a comb! Unlike brushes, detangling combs are made to gently work out knots without harming your hair.

Styling When Wet: Be sure to style hair when it is completely dry. Trying to style while wet will only cause it to break more easily.

Not Conditioning: Women with oily hair choose not to condition. But in reality, conditioning prevents breakage. So if you have oily hair, just apply conditioner to the bottom half of your hair, not the scalp.

Neglecting Your Scalp: Be sure to scrub your scalp. It actually stimulates hair growth and keeps hair healthy. It also removes dead skin that causes dandruff.

Styling Daily: Try to have your hair dry naturally twice a week. Your hair needs a break from the dryer, gels, creams and sprays.

By eliminating these bad habits, you can have healthier hair in a blink of an eye! What mistakes will you break from? Tell us on Facebook and Twitter.
