Spring Color Trends: Ombre, Highlights or Bayalage?

temp-post-image

Spring is finally here! Although the warm weather hasn’t exactly made its way to New England, it is time to start thinking about your new spring hairstyle. We love when clients choose this time of year to lighten up their hair. Here are our 3 favorite ways to lighten your hair for this spring.

1. Ombre – This style has become increasingly popular over the past year. Ombre styles can be dramatic and bold, or more subtle and natural depending on the look you want to achieve. The term Ombre refers to color gradually fading from dark to light starting towards the middle of the hair instead of at the roots. Though the most popular color combo is brunette hair gradually becoming blonde, there are tons of other color options.
2. Highlights – Highlighting is a classic way to create naturally lightened hair from top to bottom on certain strands of hair throughout. The Style Bar offers full head highlights, half head highlights, or express highlights that focus on the hair that frames your face. Express highlights are a great way to test out the color change on a small yet prominent part of your hair.
3. Balayage – Balayage combines the look of highlights and the ombre style to create a naturally colored look for your hair. It’s a technique in which the color is applied freehand by the stylist rather than using the traditional foiling or cap highlighting techniques. This style is very low maintenance and is perfect for someone who doesn’t have the time to constantly keep up with their color.

Which method will you choose to lighten up your style this spring? If you can’t decide, set up a consultation today with a Style Bar colorist. To see all of our favorite balayage, ombre, and highlighted styles, see our Pinterest board here.
